Amanda Todd

What’s the dealio with her then?  Another teen topping themselves because they’re so feeble-minded?  She, a 15 year old Canadian, Skyped with her boobs out with someone she didn’t know.  This stranger then spread this footage over the web for her friends, schoolmates and family to see, who’ve seen her naked before no doubt, no shock there.  So what’s a 15 year old doing getting nude?  She’s not even over the legal age to have sex.  She has 3 years of school left, no one gets bullied forever, she’s gonna lose contacts with those she likes as well.  There’re people in my form at school who I’ve not spoke to since leaving, back in 2007.  She doesn’t know her career prospects, far to early to decide what she wants to do and even if she did know, chances are she’ll change her mind.  That’s the problem with teenagers, they always go through phases.  I once went through a Gary Numan phase.

UPDATE: So she was 12 when she did this, that’s fucking worse but my main point still stands.  I’d expect a 12 year old to be way more prudier than a 15 year old, by a good few miles at least.  She wittingly slept around with the boyfriends of others too, how anyone can support her is beyond me.

Suicide from bullying only makes it onto Newsround in the UK, it’s kiddie news.  I don’t think it’s made the news here, just seen people talk about it on the web is it could have made the proper news in Canada or the US — we had a slow news week recently, the only things that were being reported were weather and a politician calling some policemen a very tame word.  She took it one step further by making a big deal out of it by posting a video of herself on YouTube, making the average internet user believe she’s been made into a scapegoat.  She wasn’t crying because she was getting bullied, she was crying for attention and now a legacy.  That’s probably why she has much more exposure than your average dead bully victim, made a fuss about it on film and more importantly, (her) tits were involved.  It’ll be swept under the carpet soon, like many of the other internet fads.  Who remembers Kony?

If I was younger, I would.

People get bullied all the time, I got bullied and I bullied others, so big fucking woop, we’re all still here.  It’s like one vicious circle; she could easily pick on someone else to get her rage out, instead of suppressing them into tears.  In year 9 I think, so age 13-14, a girl in our year got her boobs out on cam for someone and that spread around the place like wildfire too.  She didn’t take her own life or engage in self harm, she embraced it and good on her — you gotta bear in mind she did become a mother-of-two at 18.

So Amanda was 15, 15 year olds are naive and don’t think things through, they never think about the implications even if girls go through every scenario in their head, no matter how implausible and farfetched they are.  I should know, I was 15 once.  But who was the guy who started sharing these photos?  Apparently it was a stranger who then made a Facebook page dedicated to her breasts, so whose fault is it that she did get them out?  Yes, it was hers.  Which kind of 15 year old would get their bits out to strangers?  A slutty one.  Any normal girl that age would log off and delete them, maybe tell someone and in extreme cases, report the offender.  Cyberbulling is that easy to prevent, it only takes a click or two to log out, I even made a crappy animation on the subject a month ago.  It was light-hearted and had doggies in it.

The plan, pieced masterfully in MS Paint.

She dug herself into that hole so she has no sympathy from me, it’s what Charles Darwin called ‘natural selection’.  Smells like a Hollyoaks-esque plotline to me, the story has a faint whiff of bullshit to it and too much drama, in my opinion.

  1. Shame on you

If you paid attention the video, it all stems from her going online with her friends and chatting with people. So she lifted her top. Peer pressure? Spur of the moment “wild” decision? Who knows? But she was 12 at the time that this all started. A mistake when you are 12 should not define you for the rest of your life. This mistake followed her. No matter what she did, that did not give license to others to beat her and be so cruel to her. Yes, she flashed someone online, but she did not deserve the cruelty that followed afterwards.

You are a heartless asshole. For the good of the world, please don’t ever procreate.

To the person who commented before me. She got beat up because she fucked a kid at age 13 who was already in a relationship. His girl then got other girls together to beat her up. Which is going overboard but still, she was a whore and you can’t doubt that!

I love this. It’s so true and exact up to the “teenagers being irrational thinkers” point.
